To mark the centenary year of Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council and the Lord Mayor, Frank McCoubrey invited young people to make suggestions about items to place in a time capsule to reflect this year.  The pupils of Ashfield Boys’ High School put forward ideas and we were invited to present two of our suggestions, namely a face mask and a presentation of all the digital platforms that young people used for education and entertainment throughout the lockdown.

The time capsule will be placed in Lord Mayor’s Parlour and opened in 2121.  Liam and Conor from 9AK enjoyed a tour of Belfast City Council led by the Lord Mayor and this opportunity to make a contribution to history.  The items donated by Ashfield Boys’ were produced by members of staff, Mrs Clements, Miss McDowell, Mrs Sayer and Miss Henderson.  All in all, a great team effort – reflective of the year of 2021!
