Occupational studies in Engineering with CCEA is undertaken extensively via practical workshop activities allowing students to work safely within an engineering workshop environment and gain practical experience with various engineering fabrication techniques.

Key Stage 4 : BTEC Level 2 First Award in Engineering
BTEC NQF Level 2 First Award in Engineering is undertaken via practical workshop activities allowing students to work safely within a workshop environment and gain practical experience of various fabrication techniques, together with classroom based activities.
The qualification is made up of:

Unit 1 - The Engineering World (External Assessment)

Unit 2 - Investigating an Engineering Product (Internal Assessment)

Unit 7 - Machining Techniques (Internal Assessment)
Key Stage 5 : BTEC Level 3 RQF Extended Certificate in Engineering
BTEC Level 3 RQF Extended Certificate in Engineering is equivalent to one GCE (A Level).
The qualification is made up of:

Unit 1 - Engineering Principles – External Assessment via a written examination.

Unit 2 - Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team – Internal Assessment via a practical design / manufacture externally set task

Unit 3 - Engineering Product Design and Manufacture – External Assessment Task

Unit 44 - Fabrication Manufacturing Processes - Internal Assessment.
All internally assessed units are carried out via short tasks (practical with some written) undertaken in class.
