Tiago Marques YEAR 14
“When I found out I was going to be Head Boy for 2021-2022 I was lost for words. I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to the school and to the people that have helped me so much. We have all had a tough couple of years, due to the disruption that Covid has caused, however I believe it has made us stronger and brought us closer as a school community.
I am currently studying Maths, Physics and Engineering - three subjects that I love and I am passionate about. When I first came to Ashfield Boys’ High School I had low self-esteem, lacked
confidence and felt very insecure. Throughout my time at Ashfield Boys’, I have received mentoring and guidance from staff, pupils and from being active in many of our after school activities. All of this has helped me to develop to who I am today and I am very grateful. I see the role of Head Boy as an opportunity to give back, to work with staff and senior pupils to connect with our younger boys and ensure that their voice is heard in student council and help them with any issues that they may have. I want to be there for everyone and will do my absolute best to honour the privilege of being Head Boy of Ashfield Boys’ High School for 2021/22. I promise to strive to continue and develop the diverse and inclusive environment that we have here at Ashfield Boys’ High School.”
